It’s official, the Lucid Air Sapphire is now the world’s fastest production sedan, after it managed to accelerate from 0-60 mph in just 1.77-seconds with a standard one-foot rollout. Brooks Weisblat of Drag Times was behind the wheel of this EV and also finished the quarter-mile in a mere 8.94 seconds with a trap speed of 154.85 mph.
These numbers may not surprise those familiar with the Lucid Air Sapphire, as they know it packs a three-motor setup that generates a combined 1,234 hp and 1,430 lb-ft of torque, mated to a single-speed automatic transmission. One question that most might have is…why the rollout? Well, the one-foot distance basically helps account for reaction times and makes every test equivalent, since not all drivers are created equal.
