Top Gear wanted to see if the lower-priced Rivian R1T could take on the Tesla Cybertruck, so what better way to do so than at Johnson Valley, north of Highway 247 in the Mojave Desert?
The Rivian R1T comes standard with a dual-motor setup making 533 hp and 610 lb-ft of torque, paired with a 105-kWh battery, enabling it to hit 60 mph in 4.5 seconds. As for the Tesla Cybertruck, the base configuration boasts a dual-motor setup generating 593 hp and 525 lb-ft of torque, drawing power from a 123 kWh lithium-ion battery pack, which helps it hit 60 mph in a mere 4.1 seconds. How each one performed in off-road scenarios heavily depended on their suspension setups, but we won’t spoil the results.
