Endiatx’s PillBot drone begins clinical trials, and could one day be used for microsurgery once FDA approval is granted. It’s currently touted as a “moving eyeball in the stomach”, or a pill camera that you swallow, granting access the world’s best GI doctors without ever having to leave home.
A remote doctor maneuvers the PillBot and can view the live footage before make a diagnosis, in real-time. Typically, a patient would require a hospital visit or undergo anesthesia during an endoscopy. The PillBot itself features LEDs, a multi-layer flex circuit, 3-axis thrusters, a data transceiver, and a lithium battery.
