Insta360 Snap Selfie Screen
Smartphones are constantly improving their rear cameras, but the front cameras are falling behind in terms of quality and detail. Insta360 chose to address this issue square on with the Snap, a thin, magnetic display that hooks onto the back of your phone and provides a live view directly from those far better rear cameras. Creators and casual photographers can now frame, modify, and capture selfies or short videos without having to guess which lens is which or rotate the phone around in the middle of the shoot.

The Snap can be attached in seconds using the powerful magnets found into MagSafe iPhones or the accompanying ring, which is compatible with Android cellphones. A short USB-C cable connects the screen to the phone for both power and video feed, so there’s no need to worry about separate charging or Bluetooth pairing, and once it’s plugged in, the 3.5″ touchscreen simply mirrors whatever the camera app is showing you; all touch controls work even when the phone is turned away; zoom in, tighten the focus, switch lenses, and so on, all without having to flip the device around. Latency is a modest 30 milliseconds, making it suitable for natural vlogging or quick snaps with no obvious delay.

Insta360 Snap Selfie Screen with Light - 4K Magnetic Selfie Monitor Screen for Selfie, Vlogging...
  • Preview your shots in real time while using your phone's superior rear camera.
  • The 3.5-inch high-res touchscreen gives you total control of your phone with screen mirroring to frame your shots perfectly every time.
  • Plug in and play, no charging required. Shoot in 4K with instant preview for a true "what you see is what you get" experience.

You currently have two options available on the shelves. The basic Snap costs $79.99, while the enhanced variant, which has an integrated ring light, costs $89.99. That extra illumination comes in handy when shooting in areas with harsh lighting, and it consists of five additional brightness steps as well as three color temperatures that were developed in collaboration with AMIRO’s makeup lighting specialists. Both units are tiny, allowing for a one-handed hold, measuring only 7.3 millimeters without the light and 8.2 with it. As a result, your phone will never feel too heavy in your pocket or backpack.

The Snap works with any iPhone starting with the 15 series and any Android device that supports DisplayPort alt mode for screen mirroring. Your native camera app will work as soon as you clip it on, and third-party apps like Instagram, TikTok, and editing suites will automatically capture the mirrored feed. There is a little flip-over protective cover that protects your phone screen while the Snap is idle and neatly tucks the cord away when not in use. Some testers found that battery consumption was relatively low, around 6% for ten minutes of steady shooting with the light on and 15% or so for longer casual sessions, so most users simply unplug between takes to keep things efficient.
