While Rémi Gaillard uses a drone to fool people into thinking they’ve seen a UFO, Nathan Paulin set a new world record for the longest highline by completing a 2,200-meter-long journey at Mont-Saint-Michel in France, recorded with help from the Insta360 X3 camera.
This isn’t Paulin’s first rodeo with extreme highline records, as he also completed stunts at the Eiffel Tower for charity and Cirque de Navacelles in 2017. To shake off the nerves, he treats highlining as a technique similar to meditation, where he needs to always focus on the present form. One misstep could be fatal, so it’s important for him to stay very focused and grounded while suspended hundreds of feet in the air.

The feeling when I’m on the line… it’s almost impossible to describe it. Sometimes I feel really powerful when I do that, but sometimes I also feel really small and I feel like I’m nothing. Being able to do that makes me feel free. My team is a big family. I bring many guys to help me. I can’t do it alone, it’s impossible…walking on the line is just the last step of the process… I share that with many people,” said Paulin.
