At $1799, the A&futura SE200 is the world’s first music player to boast a multi-DAC set-up – two Sabre ESS9068AS DACs (in dual configuration) as well as a single AKM4499EQ. For those wondering what a DAC is, it refers to a chip that takes digital data and transforms it into an analog audio signal. Most smartphones contain only a very basic DAC that produces decent sound for you to carry on a conversation, but not optimal for high quality music recordings.
In addition to an octa-core CPU, the SE200 supports native 32bit/384kHz and DSD256 playback and sports LED lighting around the volume wheel that changes colors depending on the music playback information. It also has MQA support, which can be used with Tidal’s HiFi membership plan for streaming its Master-quality tracks. Other features include a 5.0-inch HD touchscreen, 256GB of internal storage, microSD expansion (1TB max), Wi-Fi, DLNA networking, USB digital audio output, aptX HD, USB-C for data transfer / fast-charging, and the ability to use the SE200 as a USB DAC for a Mac or Windows-based PC.
