The iPhone 17 Pro is just days away from its September 9, 2025 reveal and the rumors are already spilling out about the accessories. Here’s an early look at the redesigned Clear Case for the iPhone 17 Pro.
Transparency takes a backseat in Apple’s new Clear Case, a big departure from previous designs. Unlike the iPhone 16 Pro’s fully transparent cases, this one hides the phone’s glass back and MagSafe area with a white, semi-opaque surface. Only the corners and camera module are fully visible, framing the phone’s original finish while hiding part of the back. The repositioned Apple logo, now lower on the iPhone, is nicely tucked into this white part, resulting in a balanced, almost minimalist design.

The iPhone 17 Pro is all about camera upgrades and the Clear Case reflects that. Leaked images show a large rectangular notch that spans the full width of the case, hinting at the phone’s rumored horizontal camera bar. This could mean larger sensors, a bigger telephoto lens or improved video features as mentioned in previous leaks. The case design allows for this big module without sacrificing protection, so the phone’s triple-lens system, LiDAR scanner and flash are all safely contained. For photographers and videographers, this case shows Apple is serious about making the iPhone 17 Pro a tool for capturing moments.

MagSafe gets a nice touch here, departing from the usual circular ring with a line beneath it. Instead, a white, rounded rectangle surrounds the magnetic system and blends in with the case’s semi-opaque back. This small change not only makes MagSafe look cleaner but also hints at Apple adjusting it for better accessory compatibility or charging efficiency. The case also supports the new Camera Control button, believed to improve the iPhone’s photo capabilities. The sapphire crystal layer and conductive coating ensures a smooth and tactile experience with this button.
The Crossbody Strap support is a nice bonus to the case’s versatility. The dual cutouts at the bottom let you attach a lanyard or strap and wear your iPhone 17 Pro across your body or wrist. This utilitarian update feels like Apple is finally getting how we use our phones on the go. The case also gives full access to the Action button, wireless charging and all ports so nothing is left out.
This Clear Case is also durable, as Apple reportedly put an anti-yellowing layer on the transparent edge so it will stay clear over time. This is a major issue with clear cases which often get dingy after a few months of use. The silicone is thin and lightweight and was custom molded for the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max but it’s unclear if the regular iPhone 17 or the rumored iPhone 17 Air will get the same treatment. Early samples show some trade-offs: the smooth surface will attract dust or show slight scratches and it will feel a little slippery in your hand.
Apple’s accessory lineup is changing and the Clear Case fits in between the expensive TechWoven cases and the more casual Liquid Silicone cases. It’s for people who want a minimalist style without breaking the bank with just enough personality to stand out. Rumors of tinted versions, potentially seasonal or limited editions, are intriguing. A soft blue or muted red variant for the holidays would be nice so people can personalize their iPhone while keeping the clean translucent design. These tinted versions have not been confirmed but they’re a nice idea.
