If Apple made an iPod Nano 8 as either a tribute or an all-new standalone device, it might look very similar to the current Apple Watch, or at least that’s what one industrial designer thinks. The first-generation was introduced on September 7, 2005, and touted as a replacement for the iPod Mini.

This concept shows what the 8th-generation iPod Nano could look like in seven different colors, and there appears to be a central digital crown flanked by two side buttons. On the bottom, you’ll find a USB-C port, while the top might be sporting a 3.5mm audio jack. There’s no word yet on if Apple plans to eventually release an updated 20th anniversary iPod Classic on September 5, 2027.

As much as i love the iPod (the only product line i loved from Apple, still have the Shuffle with me), I think that it’s long beyond obsolete at this point. Apple made the right decision to discontinue it back then. I’d like to believe they already had a foresight so they’ve decided to end it, rather than to push through and suffer losses,” said one commenter.
