Apple Marina Bay Sands has opened to the public and it’s the Apple Store to sit directly on the water. The floating sphere is entirely surrounded by water and provides uninterrupted 360-degree panoramic views of the city as well as its breathtaking skyline. This all-glass dome structure is fully self-supported and consists of 114 pieces of glass with only 10 narrow vertical mullions for structural connection.
The interior was inspired by the Pantheon in Rome, as an oculus located at the apex of the dome provides a flooding ray of light that travels through the space. Custom baffles lines the interior glass, each uniquely shaped to counter sun angles and provide a nighttime lighting effect. There are plenty of trees lining the interior of the dome, letting the green garden city of Singapore flow directly into the store.
