Atari VCS Game Console Hands-On
The Atari VCS game console has finally started shipping to its Indiegogo backers and Google Chrome is the built-in browser used to ennrich the streaming services, browsing, and browser-based applications. This browser takes full advantage of the streaming capabilities of the system’s AMD Ryzen R1606G CPU and lets you access things like Google Workspace – Gmail, Calendar, Chat, Docs, Drive, and Meet. Plus, it will be compatible with most PC peripherals, so users will be able to connect a webcam for Google Meet video conferencing and use a mouse and keyboard to undertake more text-heavy tasks. The company also released the Atari VCS Companion mobile app today, available on both Google Play and the App Store. This app provides users with a virtual mouse and keyboard for navigating Chrome and other apps on the VCS, using a smartphone or tablet. When more consoles reach the hands of consumers, Atari will continue to regularly enrich the content offering accessible on the VCS. Aside from the console, the other hardware includes a “Classic Joystick” controller, based on the single-button design of the Atari CX40 joystick, and a “Modern Controller’.
