Benro Theta World's First Auto-Leveling Tripod
Travel photography can be quite tricky without the right equipment, and that’s where the Benro Theta comes in. It’s touted as the world’s first auto-leveling tripod with built-in smart features, which means you won’t have to constantly adjust a level or the ball head. Simply press a single button, and let Theta do the rest.

A dual-function ball head makes it perfect for both photographers and videographers. You can operate it as a conventional ball head for still photographs, or convert it to a separate axis pan / tilt head for capturing video footage. Forget dealing with pesky twist locks, as Theta has an innovative self-locking system that automatically locks each leg, only requiring the user to rotate the leg’s foot to its desired length. There are several optional modules, including an ‘Optical Matrix Sensor’ (below) for $50, which is designed for time-lapse shots, as it attaches to your camera’s hot shoe. Theta is expected to hit Kickstarter next month, priced at $350 USD for the Standard and $399 for the Max version.

Benro Theta World's First Auto-Leveling Tripod

The photographer has to readjust the tripod level according to the different terrain when relocating the sites. Theta’s one-key Auto Leveling function solves the biggest problem of traditional tripods in recent decades and brings real convenience to photographers. We used an extremely accurate, reliable optical matrix sensor and gyroscope to detect the ambient light [and adjust] your camera’s parameters automatically, dynamically, and precisely,” said the company to Peta Pixel.
