Potato fans rejoice! Now you can actually stay in one, or at least the Big Idaho Potato Hotel, which has been listed on Airbnb. The 6-ton structure isn’t actually made from potatoes, but rather steel, plaster, and concrete, located in a large field with views of the Owyhee Mountains in South Boise, Idaho. Measuring 28 feet long, 12 feet wide, and 11.5 feet tall, the potato sleeps two adults comfortable, boasting one queen bed, a small bathroom, kitchenette, fireplace, and air-conditioning.
This giant potato was built by the Idaho Potato Commission to promote the vegetable. After touring the US for six years on the back of a truck, the commission was at a loss for what to do with it. Thankfully, Kristie Wolfe, a small-home developer, stepped in and turned the potato into a rental property. It costs around $200 a night, plus a $31 service fee as well as $16 in occupancy taxes / fees, bringing the total price of a one-night stay to $247.
