Bugatti Chiron vs Tesla Model S Plaid Drag Racing
With a quad-turbocharged 8.0L W16 engine that makes 1,500 hp and 1,180 lb-ft of torque, the Bugatti Chiron is seemingly unbeatable in a drag race by any sub-$200K vehicles straight from the factory, but the Tesla Model S Plaid would beg to differ. The latter has a triple electric motor setup making 1,020 hp and it’s even 500-pounds heavier than the Chiron.

Surprisingly enough, both vehicles are quite evenly matched and trade victories throughout the five drag races. What it came down to was the launches, as putting all that torque down right off the line requires some serious skill. Let’s just say that electric hypercars will be a lot more common in the future. One surprising vehicle from the 1950s that could probably hang with either vehicle in this drag race would be the MG EX181, which is as fast as the Bugatti Veyron.
