Chevrolet revealed two concept cars at The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering, in Monterey, California: the Corvette CX and its track-focused sibling, the CX.R Vision Gran Turismo. They won’t be in showrooms, but they show where the American icon is headed next.
Corvette’s design has always balanced tradition with progress. The CX has classic elements: a long, aggressive nose, a horizontal line cutting the body and dual taillights that are every Corvette since the 1960s. But this car feels like it’s from a sci-fi movie. The roofline is under 41 inches, it’s crouched and predatory. The fighter-jet inspired canopy tilts forward to welcome the driver and passenger.

A Vacuum Fan System pulls air through open channels in the body to create downforce that glues the car to the road. The front diffuser and rear wing adjust automatically to maximize grip during high-speed cornering. Even the suspension arms are sculpted like wings to streamline airflow and reduce lift at the front.
Power comes from four electric motors, one at each wheel, over 2,000 horsepower combined. A 90-kWh lithium-ion battery is nestled low in the chassis to balance weight distribution and center of gravity. Torque vectoring across all four wheels makes the CX carve turns with surgical precision. This electric setup frees the designers from the constraints of a traditional engine.
The canopy lifts to reveal seats wrapped in Inferno Red ballistic textile to hold occupants in during aggressive driving. Premium silicone leather, milled aluminum and low-gloss carbon fiber create a luxurious yet purposeful cabin. The steering wheel, inspired by motorsport, integrates all major controls so the driver’s hands are on the wheel and eyes on the road. The windshield is a digital display projecting real-time performance data in a seamless interface.
Both cars will be in Gran Turismo 7 later this month thanks to a partnership with Polyphony Digital. Chevrolet’s engineers provided the blueprints for the chassis, drivetrain and aerodynamics so the virtual cars will feel real. For fans this means you’ll be able to experience the CX and CX.R in a way that’s as close to driving as you can get without actually being in the car.
For now, the CX is a concept but its influence will shape the Corvettes of the future. Its sleek design, advanced aerodynamics and electric powertrain means performance and innovation will coexist.
