Custom Watch Has Tiny Chess Set Inside, Might be World’s Smallest

There’s bone-breaking chess robots, and then this custom watch with a tiny chess set inside. Designer Levsha started with a standard wristwatch, took the mechanical components apart, kept the face, used a laser cutter for replacement parts, and then a laser engraver to etch the chessboard.

Now you might be wondering about the actual chess pieces, and those had to be designed in CAD software before they could be milled from what appears to be brass. Every single chess piece had to be painstakingly cut by machine using the CAD files. In the end, the pieces all had to be glued onto the tiny chessboard before reassembling the watch with the new brass face. Unfortunately, the watch can’t be used to play a game of chess.
