The Zammit family from Sydney, Australia turned down a $50-million AUD ($33.8-million USD) offer from a developer to sell their home, and this time-lapse video shows what happened around their home in the ensuing years. As you might have expected, the construction crews simply built an entire neighborhood around their property, which now stands out amongst the monotonous structures.

Before the new developer swooped in, the area around the Zammit’s home used to be farmland dotted with little red brick homes and cottages. Every single home was unique, and there was so much space for crops, animals, etc. On the bright side, the drive to the central business district of Sydney still takes just 40 minutes.

The fact that most people sold out years and years ago, these guys have held on. All credit to them. Depending on how far you push the development plan, you’d be able to push anywhere from 40 to 50 properties on something like this, and when subdivided, a 300 square metre block would get a million dollars,” said real estate agency Taylor Bredin.
