First Six Seat Tesla Cybertruck Mod
A father of four looked at his gleaming new Tesla Cybertruck and couldn’t help but think the same thing every time he packed the kids in: it’s simply not designed for a family of six, with only five seats after all. Tesla abandoned the idea of a front bench layout in 2019, but when production vehicles arrived, they included a fixed center console instead. Rather than waiting for things to change, he decided to create his own six-seater.

He pulled out the entire center console. In its place, he wedged a thin tiny seat bolted upright between the driver and passenger seats. This new seat has all of the necessary features, including a seatbelt, and the fabric matches the rest of the interior well, so it appears to be a natural fit at first glance. With that modification, the front row now seats three people, which is beneficial because it makes the entire interior a real six-seater configuration.

The owner posted images of the finished job in a Tesla Facebook group, as well as shots of the entire family squeezed inside, with all six of them fitting comfortably in both the front and back. There isn’t much room for cupholders or storage anymore, and one of the photographs shows his son hanging onto his drink because there was no other place to put it. On the plus side, the practical payoff was nearly immediate: no more splitting the family up for various excursions or having to use a different vehicle.

First Six-Seat Tesla Cybertruck Mod
Tesla abandoned the initial six-seat concept for several reasons. For starters, safety standards demand airbags and appropriate crash protection in all positions. If you put a third passenger in the middle, they’ll be right near to the large center display, with no airbag to protect them, and the driver-side airbag may not be able to deploy properly. In addition, suitable attachment points are required for the seat to withstand the full impact of a crash, which the center console area was not meant to achieve.
