FLIR’s palm-sized Black Hornet 3 Personal Reconnaissance System (PRS) weighs just 32-grams, yet costs $195,000 USD. Not only does this latest model incorporate sharper imaging processing, thanks to the FLIR Lepton thermal microcamera core and a visible sensor to allow greater image fidelity, it also seamlessly integrates into the Android Tactical Assault Kit (ATAK) utilized by the military to provide battlefield networks as well as distribution of information to anyone on the network.

Other features include a line-of-sight link and a GPS-enabled beyond-line-of-sight navigation capability, which means its operator can use the controller to pilot the unmanned PRS manually, observing its activity through the cameras in its nose via the touchscreen display. The Black Hornet 3 can also be operated in semi-autonomous mode, allowing it to follow preset waypoints and return to the user as programmed .
