
Genesis unveiled the production 2027 GV60 Magma at Circuit Paul Ricard in southern France last week. This production version of last year’s design is precisely what was promised: a tremendously fast crossover that handles well and will be available for purchase next year. Production will begin soon, with deliveries beginning in South Korea in early 2026 and continuing to Europe and North America later that year.
Under the hood, or rather not, given its electric powertrain, you’ll find a pair of motors, one up front and one in the back, that work together to produce a staggering 609 horsepower and 546 pound-feet of torque from the start. However, when you use the boost button on the steering wheel, everything just goes up a notch. For around 15 seconds, output reaches 650 horsepower and 583 pound-feet, enough to propel you beyond the traffic jam. This boost surge strikes just where it should, without feeling frantic, thanks to a well calibrated battery management system that keeps everything cool even during the most intensive runs. You’re powered by an 84-kWh battery, and with 800-volt charging, you can go from 10 to 80 percent in just 18 minutes at a super-fast charging station. The weight totals 4,938 pounds, which is slightly heavier than the normal GV60, but the all-wheel-drive grip ensures that it remains firmly planted on the road.

With launch control turned on, it accelerates from 0 to 60 in 3.4 seconds while maintaining a steady line. When you press the accelerator, it will reach 124 mph in 10.9 seconds and top out at 164 mph. You can count on the brakes to bring it back in with authority, thanks to 15.7-inch front discs with single-piece calipers and friction pads in the rear. The suspension has also been modified to reduce roll and increase stability, with electronic dampers that adapt on the fly and bushings that absorb bumps without allowing the car to lean over excessively. Despite the 275-section Pirelli tires on 21-inch forged wheels, the cabin is remarkably quiet and insulated from road noise thanks to extensive soundproofing, while the windows keep out the engine noise.
Design-wise, the 2027 GV60 Magma comes straight out of Genesis’ playbook, with a wide and low profile that doesn’t draw attention to itself. Overall height lowers by just about an inch, and the flared fenders make it appear good from every aspect. Up front, a redesigned bumper conducts air via three small vents above three bigger intakes, reducing drag and keeping the brakes cool. The side skirts are low with matching openings and a modest breather vent, while the rear diffuser and wing work together to drive the tires down harder on the road at high speeds.
Inside, materials wrap around you like a comfy, perfectly fitting coat. Seats press you down tight with massive side bolsters and quilting in gray and orange threads, all bound together by matching seat belts. It’s a suede-like chamude that covers the dash, doors, and console; it’s incredibly soft to the touch but durable enough to withstand a few furious drives. When you select Magma mode, the displays switch from a conventional layout to a 3-gauge configuration, providing you a clear picture of speed, g-forces, and battery metrics at a look. A head-up display shows boost time and regen levels right on the windshield, allowing you to focus on the road. The sound system mimics actual engine revs, with the speakers rising and dropping with each simulated shift.


Drive modes allow you to choose the sensation you want, such as Sprint, which sets everything up for a straight-line blast, GT to strike a good mix between cornering and cruise comfort, as well as a custom option that allows you to adjust the stability aids or limited-slip differential to your liking. Drift mode directs power to the rear wheels for slides that reward a steady hand, while the virtual gear system simulates shifts by pulsating torque and braking, complete with auditory cues. Battery cooling activates automatically on track days, ensuring that peak output remains consistent lap after lap. Even on quiet periods, such as a Sunday drive, the reinforced doors and active noise cancelers work together to keep discussions clear, even above the sound of the tires on the road.


When it hits the market, pricing is projected to be around $85,000, which is a step up from the $73,000 base performance GV60 but still well short of the six-figure club. That puts it right in the mix with the big guns from BMW and Mercedes, which all strive for the same combination of power and high-end refinement.
