The problem with typing on a glass surface is that you just can’t feel the keys or receive any feedback besides the usual clicking noise. According to these patent sketches, this issue could potentially be solved with raised, soft glass keys with integrated touch sensors underneath. For this to be possible, the glass would need to have a thickness of 40 microns or less, enabling it to be slightly deformed when force is applied to them.
