Snazzy Labs recently got their hands on an extremely rare Google Android smartphone prototype from 2007, and it looks somewhat similar to the BlackBerry Q10, or at least the keypad section. Called the Google Sooner, it featured a non-touchscreen display, a D-pad for navigating the pre-Android 1.0 UI, and a standard keypad.
Featuring a 2.43″ (320×240) LCD screen, a 200MHz Texas Instruments OMAP850 single-core processor, 64MB of RAM, 64MB of internal storage, a microSD card slot, 1.3-megapixel rear camera, Bluetooth, 2G (GPRS / EDGE) connectivity, and a 960mAh battery. One thing it doesn’t have is WiFi connectivity, which means the only way for any data is via 2G. Believe it or not, Google’s Sooner prototype also had Quake pre-installed, and it wasn’t just for how, as the device was actually able to run the game.
