While we wait for the Apple virtual reality headset, the much anticipated Half-Life 2 VR mod public beta has now launched on Steam. If it’s your first time hearing about this fan-made project, this mod essentially adds support to the original 2004 PC gaming classic by Valve Software, complete with tracked motion controls that enable players to physically walk around, pick up objects or climb ladders.
Other features include intuitive, realistic weapon interactions with quick and easy weapon switching using a radial menu, multiple control options (full left-handed support, laser sight, quick reload, etc.), various comfort options (motion vignette, 3rd person vehicle camera, etc.), as well as the ability to play it on any headset supported by SteamVR. Download it here now.

Half-Life 2: VR Mod requires that you own Half-Life 2 on Steam. Half-Life 2: VR Mod was not created by Valve Software. We have the same content as the original Half-Life 2, which includes graphic violence like: alien / human blood, human corpses, [and] dismembering burning zombies,” said the developer.
