Homemade Animatronic Head Robot
While not as refined as EVA, this homemade animatronic head by Will Cogley is most certainly a conversation piece, albeit a slightly creepy one. It doesn’t have the typical skin you see on human-like robots, but rather flexible molded silicone to allow for more realistic facial expressions.

For those wondering how the silicone skin is being held down, the system consists of clamps with embedded magnets, as it still allows for it to flex and contract without issue. Speaking of animatronics, did you know that the first animatronic figure of a person was created by Disney for its Abraham Lincoln attraction at the Illinois State Pavilion of the 1964 New York World’s Fair.

What I recommend is to watch some vintage special effects makeup design in which the cheek for instance, is thicker and glued on to a thinner eye socket part using latex. I think though ultimately you are going to wind up using some kind of mesh embedded into a two-sided silicone mold and that mesh will be some kind of fishing wire or flexible underwire. This mesh would prevent tearing and also give you the ability to attach your structures to the mesh,” said one commenter.
