The Honda CR-V Dream Pod Concept is a special camping version of the well-known CR-V crossover, shown off by Honda Europe to celebrate 30 years of the CR-V in 2025. This one-of-a-kind creation turns the crossover SUV into a go-anywhere adventure vehicle, taking ideas from Japan’s tiny capsule hotels. It’s made to mix homey comfort with the fun of exploring off the beaten path.
It’s built on the CR-V e:PHEV (a plug-in hybrid), which has a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, a 17.7 kWh battery, and an electric motor, letting it go up to 49 miles (79 km) on just electricity. That means quiet, no-smoke driving in EV mode, perfect for peaceful campsites or far-off spots. With 159 mm of ground clearance and smart traction control, it can roll over all kinds of terrain.

The coolest part is the EGOE Nestboard 650, a small camping kit that fits in the CR-V’s cargo space—either 617 or 659 liters, depending on the market. Fold down the back seats, and it opens into a big double mattress for two grown-ups. There’s a hidden drawer that slides out with a cooking stove, a fold-up sink, and spots for utensils, cutlery, and plates, making it a kitchen and bedroom on wheels. It’s got extra cozy stuff too, like LED reading lights, slide-out side tables, USB charging spots, blackout covers for the windows, and a pull-back blind for privacy.
Outside, the Dream Pod has a simple two-color look with useful add-ons like crossbars and a Thule bike carrier on a removable tow bar, using the CR-V’s 1,500 kg towing power. Inside, rubber mats keep dirt away, and glowing door sills make it feel warm and inviting at night.
Astrophotography is the process of going out, under the night sky and capturing it. It’s a huge difference compared to daylight, where you can see your subject clearly. You must be prepared to adapt to get the image, which is why the ‘Dream Pod’ was such a huge advantage. Knowing I would be comfortable and relaxed regardless of the location or time of day allowed me to perform at my best and deliver the most exciting pictures,” said Benjamin Barakat, Astrophotographer who traveled into the Italian Alps to capture some incredible images of the night sky.
