Honda has launched the new ADV Edition of the Elevate SUV in India. At first glance, it looks like a beast, with orange stripes, blacked out trim and decals that scream adventure. But when you open the door, you’ll see a familiar face. Same old front-wheel drive, 119 horsepower engine and practical city friendly attitude that will never get you into trouble on a muddy track.
Starting with the front, Honda has replaced the chrome grille with glossy black plastic with vertical slats and an orange stripe on top. They’ve added sleek faux bumper vents with orange trim and a silver skid plate below. The hood has matte black stickers with orange borders that look like a quick doodle of mountains, probably done on a coffee break. Side panels have ADV logos on the fenders and little orange stripes near the mirrors. The wheels are 17-inch black alloys with orange center caps on top. Out back, another silver skid plate and orange trim on the bumper garnish completes the look.

You can choose between Meteoroid Gray Metallic and Lunar Silver Metallic paints. Both are available in single or dual tone and come with black roof, mirrors, roof rails and shark-fin antenna. It measures 4,312 mm in length and has 220 mm of ground clearance, so it’s good for Indian roads but completely useless for anything steeper than a credibility ML exit.

Honda has gone all out with a black interior. The seats are leatherette with orange stitching and ADV emblems, while the door panels, air vent surrounds and gear knob have orange thread. The headliner is black and the cabin feels even darker. The dashboard has a small lit strip on the passenger side that illuminates through a mountain silhouette graphic. Do you know what happens when you touch the 10.25″ infotainment screen or the 7″ driver display? Yes, everything feels exactly the same as in the standard Elevate.1.5-liter naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine still makes 119 hp and 145 Nm of torque. Transmission options are the same old six-speed manual or CVT with seven virtual gears and paddle shifters. Fuel efficiency expected to be 15-16 km/l depending on the transmission.

The standard model comes with a bunch of features including a single-panel sunroof for enjoying the open air, as well as wireless charging to keep your phone powered up too. You also get an 8-speaker sound system and all the usual climate control kit plus six airbags for peace of mind. Then there’s the Honda Sensing suite of safety features which comes as standard – and that includes adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, emergency stopping on tap and a 360-degree camera if you want to splash out for it.
Prices start at Rs 15,29 lakh ex-showroom Delhi for the boring old manual in a single colour and go up to Rs 16.67 lakh for the CVT dual-tone – a nice bit of kit if you want it. When you convert that to USD though – it’s going to set you back a whopping $17,300 to $18,800. To put it into perspective though – the standard Elevate starts at a much more modest Rs 11 lakh. That means the ADV package is knocking about $5,000 more off the price – depending on exactly which trim level you opt for.
