Hyundai’s Supernal S-A2 electric air taxi was revealed today at CES 2024, and this electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) vehicle builds upon the S-A1 by creating a new mode of transportation to get people in urban areas from point A to point B faster.
This V-tail aircraft was designed to cruise 120 mph at a 1,500-foot altitude for 25- to 40-mile trips, initially. Its distributed electric propulsion architecture boasts eight all-tilting rotors that operate at just 65 dB in vertical take-off / landing phases and 45 dB while cruising horizontally. Redundant components in critical systems such as powertrain, flight controls and avionics, ensure maximum safety for the occupants. Hyundai hopes that Supernal vehicles can enter the commercial market in 2028.
