Hyundai Mobis unveils the world’s first in-car rollable display and it simply disappears when the engine is turned off. The driver can roll the screen up so that only 1/3 of it is visible, showing the minimum driving information required. It’s scaled up to 2/3 when using navigation and can be switched to full-screen mode with the 16:9 aspect ratio to watch videos while the vehicle is parked or when charging.
This rollable display would simply replace the infotainment navigation system currently installed in most modern vehicles. It takes up a minimal amount of space, and could revolutionize automotive interior design. One other use would be in purpose built vehicles (PBVs) for leisure, as it can then be installed on the ceiling between the front and the back seats. Hyundai says it comes in QHD resolution or higher and requires just 4.7 inches of depth for the rollable display to be installed near the driver’s seat.
