Rarely Seen Interactive Film Michael Jackson Shot for the SEGA AS-1 Motion Simulator

Now many remember even hearing about the SEGA AS-1, as only a dozen of these motion ride simulators were installed at video arcades worldwide, namely SEGA VirtuLand, SEGA World, and Joypolis. Even more rare is the interactive film that Michael Jackson shot for the attraction, titled ‘Scramble Training’.

This Scramble Training footage featured an English voiceover from Jackson and was then dubbed into Japanese. A few AS-1 installations, including the former at the Tokyo Joypolis location, used non-interactive ride films found in other motion simulators.

Unfortunately, none of them are known to be in operation in working order today. However, a modified version located at the former Sega World Sydney in Australia was repurposed at Luna Park, Melbourne until 2020.
