Meiji University professor Homei Miyashita and his team have developed TTTV (Taste the TV), which is exactly as it sounds, a screen that you can lick to taste things. It uses 10 different flavor canisters that when combined, can simulate the taste of a particular food. This sample is then sprayed onto hygienic film that covers the TV screen for the viewer to try. Read more for a video and additional information.

It took Miyashita and a group of 30 students around $860 USD to build this prototype over the past year. Currently, they are finding practical applications for the technology and have so far come up with distance learning for cooks, tasting games or even quizzes. The professor hopes that the spray technology can eventually be used for other devices capable of spraying pizza or chocolate flavor to a slice of toasted bread.
