Flying cars have been around for some time, but French composer Jean-Michel Jarre is the first passenger to take flight in KleinVision’s AirCar. This flying car may be the closest to seeing regular time on the roads, as it received a Certificate of Airworthiness after completing over 130 hours of flight and making 520 successful takeoffs / landings.
Jean-Michel Jarre took off from Piestany and landed in Nitra (Slovakia), just in time to perform the opening act of the 2024 Starmus festival. AirCar is powered by a BMW-sourced engine making 160 hp that has been mounted in the rear, enabling it to comfortably cruise at 119 mph at altitudes of up to 8,200 feet. The next prototype should have a 300 hp engine and a 621-mile range.
