Does the name Jean-Yves Blondeau sound familiar? If so, that is because his 32-wheel roller suit has been around since 1997, with several new versions having been created since. This suit comes equipped with a number of rollers on most of the major joints, torso, and back. It’s capable of propelling the rider downhill in a variety of positions at speeds of up to 78 mph.
The French designer actually built the roller suit as part of his graduation project at the industrial design school Olivier de Serres in Paris, France. Blondeau first conducted research for around 6 months, followed by 1 month of synthesis and then spent 2 months making the prototype. Interested? He’s now offering commercial versions of the suit, priced at just over $6,900 USD. A new motorized version is in the works, where the wheels on the torso are electrified for going up hills. Now imagine the LEONARDO robot with the buggy rollin suit.
