The iMac G3 was a cultural icon in 1998, thanks to its Bondi Blue exterior, curved design and rejection of the floppy drive. Fast forward to 2025, and Terauma’s LEGO Ideas proposal has the same attitude in a 700 piece set that’s charming as unlikely it is to make the cut.

Terauma’s iMac G3 is a masterclass in turning nostalgia into physical form. The 700 piece project reduces the real computer to LEGO scale while keeping the design. The design is dominated by clear elements just like the late-90s iMac’s see-through look. The Bondi Blue is perfect, with carefully chosen translucent blue pieces that catch the light just right.
- BRILLLLLLIANT — iMac is the ultimate all-in-one desktop computer, powered by the M4 chip and built for Apple Intelligence.* With a stunning 24-inch...
- FITS PERFECTLY IN YOUR SPACE — The all-in-one desktop design is strikingly thin, comes in seven vibrant colors, and elevates any space with style.
- BUILT FOR APPLE INTELLIGENCE — Apple Intelligence is the personal intelligence system that helps you write, express yourself, and get things done...

Terauma’s attention to detail goes beyond the exterior shell. The build has a small cathode ray tube and motherboard, a nod to the iMac’s innards. These elements are designed in LEGO’s blocky style and give a level of authenticity that techies will love. The hockey puck USB mouse and keyboard with translucent cables that yellow with age complete the package.

Built with Stud.io, a digital design tool for LEGO projects, the model shows Terauma’s ability to balance form and function. The reduced scale doesn’t sacrifice detail, it forces you to choose your parts wisely to get the iMac. The keyboard and mouse are simple yet recognizable, sometimes less is more.
The LEGO Ideas submission needs 10,000 votes to be reviewed and with only 5,500 left, time is running out. Even if it reaches that mark, Apple’s strong control over their IP makes approval a long shot. LEGO has done licensed kits before but Apple’s reluctance to approve them makes this one a doubt.
