Lockheed Martin Lunar Lander

Lockheed Martin has just released new pictures of its lunar lander concept that aims to take humans back to the Moon by 2024. The design features a lander section and then the ascent vehicle, which lift astronauts off the Moon’s surface. The lander may eventually travel back and forth between NASA’s proposed Gateway space station that will orbit the Moon. This means astronauts would first travel to Gateway and then take the lander from the lunar surface. Read more for another video and additional information.

“A big advantage of this new Lockheed lander concept is that the company won’t be building the vehicle completely from scratch. Many of the elements needed for the vehicle are derived from Orion, a crew capsule that Lockheed has been working on for the last decade,” according to The Verge.
