The one-off Lotus Evija X EV hypercar arrived at the 2024 Goodwood Festival of Speed and promptly crashed. It’s powered by four electric motors generating a combined 2,000 hp and 1,257 lb-ft of torque, enabling it to hit 60 mph in under 3-seconds, while topping out at 217mph.
We’re not sure what went wrong, but the Evija X appears to perform a burnout for the crowd at the starting line before the vehicle suddenly snaps to the right and into the bales of hay off to the side. There is damage to the front clamshell, but thankfully, the driver cell seemed to stay fully intact. The announcers did mention that the software associated with Evija X’s four individual electric motors possibly had something to do with the driver losing control.
