Apple’s MacBook Air M2 is finally up for pre-order, and the base model should sell out fairly quickly. Weighing just 2.7-pounds and measuring only 11.3mm thick, the laptop still features a dedicated charging port, two Thunderbolt ports for connecting a variety of accessories, as well as a 3.5 mm audio jack with support for high-impedance headphones.
You also get a 13.6-inch Liquid Retina display expanded closer to the sides with 500 nits of brightness, a 1080p FaceTime HD camera, a four-speaker sound system completely integrated between the keyboard and display, along with a three-mic array for capturing clean audio using advanced beamforming algorithms. The 8-core M2 CPU can be paired with up to a 10-core GPU, so content creators will be able to get more done without needing MacBook Pro-like power. This means that you’ll be able to edit complex timelines in Final Cut Pro nearly 40% faster than its predecessor, and up to 15-times faster for those who haven’t yet upgraded to Apple silicon.
