Apple is set to release an updated MacBook Air with the M2 processor later this year, and there are rumors circulating that it’s already in production. Unlike its 13.3-inch predecessor, this refresh will boast a 13.6-inch display with slimmer bezels, but unfortunately it will not be mini-LED. Face ID will also not be offered on any MacBook variant this year, as Apple executive Tom Boger said having Touch ID on the Mac keyboard is more convenient, because that’s where your hands are already placed. The biggest improvement will be the new M2 chip, which is expected to have the same 8-core CPU as the M1, but with several speed and efficiency improvements, all built on TSMC’s 4-nanometer process. However, it should have more GPU cores, with 9 and 10-core GPU options, up from the 7 and 8-core GPU options on its predecessor. What would follow the M2? The M2 Pro and M2 Max chips of course for the MacBook Pro, Mac Studio, etc.
