Maserati MCPURA Italy Carabinieri Police Force
Blue lights flash across a black-red livery as the Maserati MCPura pulls into the Carabinieri’s Rome headquarters. Officers stand at attention as General Commander Salvatore Luongo takes the keys from Stellantis CEO Antonio Filosa. This one-off coupe has a mission beyond the track: racing organs and blood across Italy before time runs out.

Carbon fiber is the entire backbone of the car, as Maserati starts with a monocoque chassis that weighs less than a sedan and shrugs off impacts that would crumple steel. Every panel bolts to this central tub, keeping total weight at 3,252 lbs.

Twin turbochargers power a 3.0L V6 dubbed Nettuno. Pre-chamber ignition, derived from Formula One, sparks each cylinder with laser accuracy. The result is 621 horsepower and 538 lb-ft of torque without lag. An 8-speed dual-clutch transmission completes shifts in milliseconds, providing power only to the back wheels. 0-62 mph in 2.9 seconds; peak speed exceeds 199 mph.

Maserati Centro Stile painted the body in traditional Carabinieri colours: deep blue with white accents and red stripes. A roof-mounted light bar pulses in sync with sirens hidden behind the grille. More beacons sit low in the front bumper to clear highway speeds without drag. Inside, Sabelt racing seats grip officers through high-speed corners, while microfiber upholstery resists stains from emergency gear.

Special compartments are in the passenger footwell and trunk. Refrigerated cases keep blood bags at the right temp. Insulated organ carriers snap into carbon-fiber brackets that are padded against 2g cornering forces. A dedicated power supply keeps everything going for hours without the engine.

Carabinieri pilots train on the same Modena proving ground where Maserati tests its road cars. Alfa Romeo provided the force’s first “Gazzella” patrol cars in 1952. The trident badge on the grille is Italian pride, but the real badge is in the refrigerated hold: a heart still beating on the way to a second chance.
