The Mercedes-AMG ONE hypercar recently set a 6:29.09 minute lap at Nürburgring-Nordschleife, breaking its own 6:35.183 record set back in 2022. Power comes from a turbocharged 1.6-liter V6, paired with four electric motors, that generate a combined 1,049 hp, enabling it to hit 60 mph in 2.9 seconds.
It’s safe to say that the track conditions had to be ideal in order to beat the 6:30-minute target, and September 23, 2024, at 6:56 p.m., just happened to be the time and place to set this new record. Race car driver Maro Engel achieved the new record on his third timed lap that day, with temperatures of 59° Fahrenheit (air) and 68° Fahrenheit (asphalt). Most importantly, the legendary Nordschleife was dry throughout and offered perfect grip.
