Microsoft Project AirSim Metaverse Drone AI Training
Microsoft Project AirSim turns to the metaverse for autonomous drone AI training, or in other words, a virtual world that mimics the physics in a realistic three-dimensional environment. These autonomous drones are piloted by artificial intelligence in a controlled environment, making it far safer than training them with human pilots in a city.

Project AirSim is capable of running through millions of flights in seconds with drones, enabling them to react to countless variables much like they would in the physical world. It boasts 3D libraries of various environments and real-world locations, such as New York City, while pre-trained models can be used as starting points to build more customized digital drone pilots. Plus, they also won’t have to deal with Rheinmetall’s Skynex Air Defense System, which is designed to take out a swarm of drones.

Autonomous solutions greatly reduce the costs and risks associated with inspection of infrastructure such as cell towers or wind turbines. AI models detect and avoid obstacles during flight, then identify anomalies in the inspection,” said Microsoft.
