Gamers probably already know that MindsEye is an upcoming action-adventure thriller developed by Build A Rocket Boy, but did you know that the studio was founded by Leslie Benzies? He was key figure at Rockstar North, serving as a producer and lead designer on GTA III, Vice City, San Andreas, GTA IV, and GTA V, as well as Red Dead Redemption.
This new gameplay footage shows Redrock City, a huge futuristic desert city in a near-future America, where AI, robots, and brain implants run the show. You play as Jacob Diaz, a former soldier with a brain implant called MindsEye, which messes with his memory and gives him broken flashbacks of a secret military mission.

Jacob’s journey to figure out his past puts him up against big players, like a power-hungry mayor, Shiva Vega, and a tech tycoon, Marco Silva, in a world full of corporate spying, AI-controlled military forces, and crooked politics.

It’s a single-player, third-person action-adventure game with a “faux-open” world—less free-roaming than GTA’s big maps but still letting you explore Redrock City, a bit like Mafia: Definitive Edition. Expect tough fights with smart third-person shooting, where enemies team up to attack, and you can use a companion drone and the environment. Fast car chases and driving scenes are a major part, similar to GTA’s vehicle action. The game should take about 15 hours and has a slick, movie-like feel.

At first, MindsEye was a test for Everywhere, a free-to-play platform Build A Rocket Boy is making, described as a “AAA Roblox” with player-made content. Now a standalone paid game, MindsEye connects to Everywhere—players can access it through the platform, and its assets can be used for player creations in Everywhere.

Benzies’ background leads to GTA comparisons, and MindsEye has some similarities: a city setting, third-person shooting, driving, and cinematic storytelling. But it’s more serious and story-focused than GTA’s jokey tone, with a sci-fi vibe like Cyberpunk 2077 because of its advanced tech and dystopian city.
MindsEye is set to release on June 10, 2025, and will be available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. It’s also accessible through the Everywhere platform on PC. No mention of PS4, Xbox One, or Nintendo Switch versions.
