A new Apple patent may have leaked a future touchscreen MacBook laptop with a haptic module placed in the palm rest area. The haptic modules may be paired with an input mechanism, which includes touch sensitive surfaces like a trackpad, a display or even a virtual keyboard.

Apple has not provided official confirmation of a touchscreen MacBook, but from the patent, we can see multiple haptic modules placed both in the palm rest are as well as behind the display. Figure 2 shows a cross-section of the haptic module, which can be used for both trackpad and a touchscreen display. An OLED panel would allow for various haptics-enabled buttons for volume, brightness, or sliders for various software programs.
