It’s official, Nuro has received the first ever Autonomous Vehicle Deployment Permit from the State of California. This means the company can now launch the first commercial autonomous vehicle service in the state, which provides safety, economic, and environmental benefits to many people in the future. The R2 EV has been used on public roads in California under the testing permit issued by the CA DMV earlier this year, but now, it can make autonomous deliveries with new as well as existing retail partners in San Mateo / Santa Clara counties soon. For added safety, the vehicle’s front end is designed to protect pedestrians, as collapses inwards in the event of a collision.
