A PlayStation 2 portable just isn’t practical due to the poor battery life, but his custom-built PS2 Mini just might be the perfect travel companion, or at least for those who enjoy classic gaming. Tito Perez of Macho Nacho Productions enlisted the help of Wesk’s Ultra Slim PS2 mod to make this mini console a reality.
The Ultra Slim PS2 mod can shrink the original console down to half the size of the standard Slim model, but it will require some soldering knowledge as well as familiarity with PCB cutting. You’ll need a 79000-series Slim model PS2 donor console, soldering tools, a hacksaw, and spare wires to get started. Next, you’ll want to order a custom-built shell from PCBWay, resin-printed power button and an SD card retaining bracket. Once you have all those parts, you’re ready to build your own PS2 Mini.

Overall, I had a great time installing Wesk’s Ultra Slim PS2 mod, and was happy to start 2023 with this interesting new project.
