It’s no larger than life PS5 console, but this Sony PlayStation XPERIA gaming smartphone shows how the company can disrupt the handheld console industry with such a device. Inspired by the PS5 DualSense controller, this smartphone has a slide-up display that reveals dual analog joysticks, a D-pad, two triggers and triangle / circle / square / cross buttons.
We’ll probably never see a PlayStation XPERIA gming smartphone, but rumors are that Sony is working on a cloud streaming handheld. There’s no official word yet from the company, although they did recently pull a job listing for a Sony Interactive Entertainment Future Technology Group (FTG) position that would lead the charge in the cloud gaming revolution. PS5 developer Mark Cerny has filed dozens of patents relating to cloud gaming, so an announcement could be imminent.
