It will be years until the hypersonic, hydrogen-powered Destinus cargo plane is ready, and that’s there Pyka’s Pelican Cargo airplane comes in. It’s now the world’s largest autonomous electric cargo airplane, with a range of up to 200-miles and the ability to transport payloads weighing 400-pounds in 66 cubic feet of cargo volume.
A nose-loading configuration with a sliding cargo tray is designed to enhance express logistics networks, while enabling connectivity of remote rural communities as well as ensuring fast and reliable access to vital supplies for areas in need. Testing is being conducted at Pyka’s flight test facility in Northern California, and its first commercial operation is planned for the second half of 2023.
