Pyramid Mountains China
There’s the Egyptian pyramids, and then these unusual pyramid mountains in Anlong County, Southwest China. Images of this site recently went viral online, with some claiming they are man made, but Professor Zhou Qiuwen of Guizhou Normal University believes they are natural formations.

The rocks that you see are actually limestone formations dating back over 200 million years, while the brick-like structures are due to natural erosive sculpting. Geological processes basically dissolved layered rocks into smaller blocks over time, giving these mountains the appearance of man-made structures.

The vertical erosion by water has led to the original expansive rock masses being segmented into independent units. As this erosive process continues, the rocks at the top undergo significant dissolution, while those at the base are relatively less affected, resulting in sharp peaks atop wider bases,” said Zhou.
