Raspberry Pi-Powered Night Vision Goggles
AI-powered night vision goggles can already shoot full color in complete darkness, while this Raspberry Pi-powered version comes with an Iron Man-style headset and HUD. Diyode Mag opted for a head-mounted design with multiple sensors for additional that is displayed on the HUD, while a compass and gyroscope lets you know exactly which direction you’re facing.

A VR Shinecon shell was used to house all of the hardware including the Raspberry Pi 4B computer that is connected to a 5MP Night Vision Camera Board. A 7″ touchscreen is used to show all of the data collected by custom software programmed in C. Even though it can be used in the dark, these goggles are most certainly not stealthy due to the bright infrared LEDs mounted on the front of the unit.

Ok, we’ll admit – Night Vision isn’t the most useful thing in the world. A simple torch is much more effective if you don’t mind throwing visible light. However, this is a project with a ton of novelty appeal – with uses in everything from nighttime Airsoft matches to ‘exoskeleton’ type projects,” said Liam Davies, Diyode Mag Editor.
