Startup Rivian’s all-new R1T and R1S electric trucks are not only practical, but they can perform some pretty cool tricks too, with the first being a “Tank Turn”. Should you opt for the quad-motor model, which enables each wheel to be driven independently, this trick is essentially the ability to spin around in place, like a tracked vehicle. Rivian actually filed a trademark for the terms Tank Turn and Tank Steer with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office on October 24, 2018. One caveat: it can only be activated on dirt and gravel roads to make sure the electric motors aren’t damaged just purely for entertainment. We’re assuming the company will be installing various sensors to detect the type of surface its being driven on.
