Samsung filed a patent with the USPTO (United States Patent and Trademark Office) earlier this year for a ‘foldable device and method for controlling the same’. However, this is a utility patent, which means that it could be used on a smartphone, tablet, or other device in the future. Thanks to a flexible hinge, the foldable device can be folded in half, making it even easier to slip in a pocket.
When unfolded, the elongated screen is great for reading E-books, web browsing, or just multi-tasking, like checking email while watching a video. An extra wide hinge means that you can bend the device at several points, while still being able to slide the back down slightly to create a larger front display surface. Its bi-directional slide mechanism means the rear can be slid upwards, while a built-in second large speaker adds to the immersion.
