Hyundai and Kia connected cars, including EVs, are set to get the Samsung SmartThings platform. This “Home-to-Car” and “Car-to-Home” service basically connects your smart home to the in-vehicle infotainment systems, allowing for remote control in both directions.
Using Samsung’s SmartThings platform will enable users to perform a variety of actions on their cars while at home, such as starting the vehicle, controlling smart air conditioning, opening / closing windows and checking their charging status. In addition to cars, users will also be able to control home appliances such as TVs, air conditioners and EV chargers. The integrated home energy management service lets users monitor how much energy is consumed by the connected devices in their homes, while energy information of their EVs and chargers will also be available.
